In these tough economic times there is nothing more important than getting the best deal you can on a new mattress.  Mattress brands make it very difficult to comparison shop because they sell essentially the same mattress model with different model names and model numbers at different stores.  The key is to know what brand, size, material, and firmness you want and then to comparison shop until you find the best deal.  We give you a price target table based on what size mattress you are looking for.  You can find mattresses below these price targets but usually they are low quality mattresses to be avoided.  If you work hard you might be able to find a brand name mattress for less than our targets  from a reputable store and if you do you should buy it.
